Struggles from below

Hi there! I’m Ollie, the founder of Struggles From Below. I’m a freelance journalist and photographer from London.

Since my career started nine years ago I've trained and worked as a financial/business journalist and freelanced as a cultural features writer. The combination of the two has allowed me to cultivate a talent for longform storytelling that never strays too far from provable fact.

I've been lucky enough to live in eight countries over the course of my life, which has instilled in me a passion for seeking out and sharing cultural knowledge that may — to some small extent — advance our collective understanding.

I was motivated to start Struggles after moving out to South America in 2017. I came across individuals and ideas that were both eye-opening and inspiring; serving to reawaken my inner idealist.

This isn’t about destroying what came before to make way for the new – at least not for me. It’s about keeping what’s working well and improving or reforming what isn’t.

Anyway, my hope is that this platform will serve to inform and inspire – and tell a cracking story in the process!
